Caldmore join Accord Family
Caldmore Area Housing Association has now completed the formalities and joined the Accord Group giving us access to extra income and savings amounting to more than £300,000 a year to secure our long-term future and invest in services for residents.
Caldmore, which employs 160 people and manages almost 2,000 homes, chose the Accord Group as its preferred partner earlier in the year. The move has now been approved by the Tenant Services Authority. With Caldmore, the Accord Group now manages almost 11,000 homes, making it one of the largest registered social landlords in the region.
The Accord Group is made up of seven independent housing associations which run their own individual organisations while benefiting from shared costs, services, knowledge and expertise.
The investment package will include a cash injection of £70,000 a year for the next 3 years and £80,000 annually in extra rental income. By joining the Group, Caldmore will also save an additional £160,000 a year, while preserving all current jobs and continuing to operate all services locally.
The investment package is designed to secure Caldmore’s future as an independent community-based housing and care provider, improve housing and services and help the association grow in the longer-term.
Caldmore Chair Bruce Gilbert OBE said: “Our decision to join the Accord Group means that we can retain our independence and community ethos while giving Caldmore the opportunity to grow and thrive. Accord has a long history of working in partnership with Caldmore and now we have joined the Group we are confident we will build on our reputation and make an even bigger impact on the communities we serve.”
Dr Chris Handy OBE, Chief Executive of the Accord Group, said: “Caldmore rightly prides itself on being a community-based organisation and we are delighted to be able to support them in delivering excellent housing and services for local people”. “Caldmore’s incredibly dedicated staff know their residents and customers better than anyone and our Group structure means they will continue to serve local people, from local offices, while able to call on help and support if they need it. We also look forward to learning from the expertise they will bring to the rest of the Group.”
Caldmore’s Board made a unanimous decision to select the Accord Group as its Preferred Partner in joining a group structure back in January. The selection followed a consultation process involving residents, staff and other stakeholders.
