The Christmas season is supposed to be a time of happiness and fun with people special to us. For some this happens, but for many the experience is quite the opposite.
The pressures of making Christmas a happy one for everyone often falls on the shoulders of the woman in the family; buying the presents, providing all the meals, organising just about everything and keeping everyone happy.
For many women it also brings the pressure of hiding the truth about being treated abusively and violently during and following the Christmas season. The pressure to protect others, mainly the children, and keep a brave face for the sake of others, means the abuse is secret and doesn’t end.
