Learning and development

We work closely with local schools, colleges and universities getting involved with career events and offering school work experience.  This helps young people make choices about careers and gives them valuable insight into the world of work and find out about the skills they would need when leaving education.

We also offer professional study placements most commonly social work placements.

From time to time we have apprenticeship opportunities where you will learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gain qualifications and earn money.  You will also spend time with a learning provider, gaining key skills that will be useful in the job market - like working in teams, problem-solving, communication and using new technology.  When we do have opportunities we work in partnership with Connexions

Three recent success stories are Rebekah, Cheresse and Daniel.  All of them have made fantastic progress since starting with Caldmore on a Modern Apprenticeship.  Having impressed us so much they were all offered permanent employment and new challenging roles.

“An Apprenticeship with Caldmore was the right career choice for me.  It has boosted my confidence and given me the opportunity to gain skills”.
Rebekah

“I chose to do an apprenticeship as it involved working, learning and (most of all) earning.  I heard about Caldmore in my local Connexions office, applied and got the job!”
Daniel

“It’s a wicked opportunity to work with a housing association and I am very happy to be doing my NVQ with Caldmore.  Every single person here is very kind and they have made me feel very welcome!”
Cheresse

We help service users take on new responsibilities and acquire new skills by taking part in a range of training, hobby and work related activities.  These are very rewarding for those taking part and if this is what you want to do, we will try to help you select something to suit your needs.

We signpost our Resident Involvement groups to Walsall Tenants & Residents Federation for training opportunities.  Training organised by CTF, our Tenant Representatives has included basic food hygiene, health & safety and first aid.

We have a number of community events for local people, tenants and service users to gain and develop self confidence, practical skills, interpersonal skills and key skills to enhance employment opportunities.
