Bruce Gilbert joined the Board in March 2006. He retired from his post as Chief Superintendent of Walsall Police in January 2008. In January 2009 he stepped in and became Chair of Caldmore to guide us through the complicated negotiations that led to Caldmore joining the Accord Group later that year. Bruce has been a senior manager in the Police Service for most of his career and believes that he should try to involve himself within his community, taking opportunities to use his skills for the benefit of local people, particularly the most vulnerable. He has a BA in Business Studies and his experience and training gives him a strategic understanding of such issues as finance, corporate planning, risk management, personnel and resource management. He has worked with a number of organisations in the West Midlands that support local communities and was awarded the OBE in 2004 for his services to regeneration. Bruce was re-elected as Chair at the Board away day in January 2010 and will continue to steer the association towards meeting our long term aspirations.
