Services for young parents

 

Tanners Court and Haydn Sanders Square
The scheme provides a total of 27 units of accommodation for young women who are pregnant or who have a young child at two sites within walking distance of each other. The parents are aged between 16 – 25 years.
The service is also available to young fathers who want to be involved in the family and require support to assist in their parenting skills.
The young parents must have housing needs as well as requiring support to achieve a level of independence and become confident parents.
Both schemes are in the Caldmore area providing easy access to the town centre and to a number of local surgeries and health centres.

Weekly Drop-In sessions are provided at both sites and the young parents are encouraged to share their experiences, support one another and participate in the numerous activities that take place, including health related awareness, guidance, training and education. The young parents also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of social events to enhance their social skills and prevent isolation.
